Triton Welcomes Peter Knez, Former CIO of BlackRock

December 2, 2024

This week, we would like to extend a warm welcome to the newest member of the Triton team.

We are incredibly excited to announce that Dr. Peter Knez, former Co-Chief Investment Officer at BlackRock will be joining as a Board Member and strategic advisor to the fund.

Peter brings an enormous wealth of knowledge and experience from his time overseeing global fixed income at BlackRock and as Global CIO at Barclays Global Investors (BGI) Fixed Income.

Benefitting from his long track record of financial innovation and data-driven strategic success, we very much look forward to working with Peter to continue building Triton into the strongest vehicle through which investors can access diversified exposure to liquid digital assets.

You can read more about it here.

Separately, thank you to everyone that joined our live webinar two weeks ago where we discussed potential impacts of the incoming US administration on the digital asset industry (hint: a lot of reasons for optimism, but US macro conditions, liquidity and regulations will still matter).

We will be hosting more webinars moving forward, so please keep an eye out for the next edition and be sure to join us live and ask any questions you might have.

Asset Notes: Positioning Through a Post-Deleveraging Market

Despite post-deleveraging weakness, protocols like Solana, Maple, Hyperliquid, Pendle, and Aerodrome show resilient activity, evolving design, and sustained relevance supporting a cautious medium-term outlook.

Post-Deleveraging Tape: Market Structure Intact Beneath the Drawdown

The recent drawdown reflected macro stress, deleveraging, and institutional outflows more than a breakdown in crypto’s underlying structure. Triton views the tape through a post-capitulation lens, focusing on flows, sentiment, valuations, and on-chain activity to distinguish temporary price weakness from genuine structural deterioration.

Delineating Amongst Crypto Verticals

Crypto is not a single asset class but a stack of distinct economic verticals, each with its own risk drivers and valuation logic. Triton applies a vertical-first, KPI-specific framework, similar to equity sector analysis, to avoid metric misuse and generate more durable alpha in liquid markets.
